Case Study and Evidence Based Prac- tice on Weaning from Trach/Artificial Airway in TBI with Vocal Cord Paralysis. Weaning from mechanical ventilation benefits is optimized by a team approach. The objective is to identify evidence-based weaning techniques, speech intervention in regaining effective swallow following extended mechani- cal ventilation, and maintaining positive outcomes after discharge. The team will also address cognitive interventions, therapeutic modalities and positive reinforcement strategies for patients with brain injury and other neurologic impair- ments who are weaning from mechanical ventilation.
