Factors Influencing Post-Acute Brain Injury Rehabilitation (PABIR) Treatment Outcome

SYNOPSIS:
This presentation discusses a large, multi-state naturalistic community-based sample of individuals who received residential PABIR. Relationships among the predictor variables were examined to explain treatment outcome for individuals receiving residential PABIR and to better understand how self-awareness influences treatment outcome. Implications for rehabilitation program models and service delivery are addressed.

Presented by Nicholas J. Cioe, PhD, CRC, Director of Quality Assurance/ Quality Improvement at Lakeview’s New Hampshire program. A graduate of the Southern Illinois University – Carbondale (SIUC) Re- habilitation Counselor Training master’s program and Rehabilitation Counseling & Administration doctoral program. Dr. Cioe is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor with brain injury rehabilitation experience at the direct care, clinical, management, and director level. Originally from RI, Dr. Cioe graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA and worked at Brown University in clinical research. He is actively involved in research and has presented nationally.
